So i looked up where my oil filter is and i still cannot find it.It talks about how its close to the radiator. Its under some shield..i can"t quite remember what "shield" its under. Could someone tell me what the oil filter is next to? Anything that surrounds the oil filter so that i can better locate it? I"m trying to change my own oil and i need to find that filter. Any insight at all is appreciated.

Welcome to the forum. Your in the wrong section. Your oil filter is located behind the alternator. That"s on the passenger side of the motor.

Rock on:tup: im still waiting on my conversion kit damn ups LMAO:haha:but anyway the filter is behind the alt. like said before If you have skinny arms you can get it from the top or just get it from under look near your drain plug on the passenger side of the pan you should see like a track it lets the oil drain down from the filter so it does go ever were just follow it up.

Sorry, if this is in the wrong section....i just opened a random thread and i guess it ended up here.Anyways, thanks for answering my question, i was looking from underneath the truck around the oil pan and i couldn"t find anything. Thats all i wanted to know, though....thanks.
like a few other guys said its behind the alt. i just jack up the front of the truck, and crawling from the front you can reach up and un screw it from the front/passanger side. its easy man. you can change the oil in these things in about 5 min, and thats taking your time lol. i hope ya find it

i used to just reach in the passenger wheel well to get to it. now that i have an intake and an e-fan, i can just reach down and grab it when the hood is open
they put it in the most inconvenient space, ecspecially if the ppl that did the last oil change b4 you didnt lube the top of the filter a lil bit so u have to find yr big ass steroid freak lookin friend to get it off for ya. yeah i hate the tutu so im gettin a 4.3 or a 3.9 dakota after i sell the POS. im a chevy guy over a mopar guy, just no F words (Ford, Foreign) but ya gotta admit the 97-04 dakotas are sexy as hell
