You are watching: 2004 toyota sequoia trac off vsc trac check engine

My VSC Trac, Trac Off and Check Engine lamp all came on today. My mam was driving for this reason I"m not sure if lock all come on in ~ the exact same time or not. I arrangement to take it it to the dealer following Tuesday to have actually it checked. This is nice disappointing due to the fact that this trouble has been checked out all the means back come the first model year. Would have actually thought Toyota could have determined a permanent fix by now, especially because they walk a minor re-spin on the 2005"s.My mam plans to take it it through our 3 young children around 90 miles from home prior to I can get it checked. Has anybody had any kind of problems pertained to these lights comes on that must make her re-consider driving so far?Any ideas or recommendations? Thanks,Pete
Hey, welcome to the "My TRAC/VSC/CEL lights room on" Club!!! just kidding, appears to it is in a fair amount of united state that this has actually happened to.....I"ve owned my 01 Seq. 10 work now and also my TRAC/VSC lights came on twice last week. Since I topped turn off my brake fluid, they"ve behaved. Given that, your CEL is also on.....mine to be not. If the engine ECU has actually a fault code stored and also lights the CEL (ie, poor 02 sensor, gas cap not tight, faulty reading from one of around 100 different sensors in the engine), the will likewise disable the TRAC/VSC as I understand it. That"ll give you some food because that thought..........Now, someone who knows an ext than ns do, please assist this man outBen
Have a look in ~ the TSBsThere is a TSB because that the VSC lite comes on. I"m not sure if it covers the 05 models, yet I believe the device is the exact same as the earlier ones for this reason it would certainly make sense if that does. Talk to her dealer. Mine lites came on sometimes when the Sequoia (03) had actually less than 10k, however haven"t watched one since -- we"re in ~ 31k now. I have not had the TSB occupational performed since the lites haven"t come on for rather awhile.Cheers,John
Thanks John and also Ben. I have actually an meeting on Tuesday so hope they"ll have a long-term fix because that it.Pete

Pete,My dealer called me my pads needed replacing, so ns posted a concern for a 2nd opinion. The reply contained some nice-to-know details on the VSC lite -- examine out this thread:http://www.stclairdrake.net/forums/showthread.php?t=32549Do a topic find for the VSC. It"s been discussed plenty of times, and also I"m sure you"ll find some an important info, as I have. This forum is wonderful source.Good luck,John
Thanks John,I didn"t recognize worn pads could set this off. I don"t think this is concerned my trouble though since I just have about 1000 mile 50/50 city/highway. I also need to view why the CEL is on because I thought this to be usually much more to execute with emissions connected failures.Pete

Wow, a 2005 with 1k miles and you"re having this problem? the sucks. My knowledge from every the object I"ve read is that once your CEL walk off, it will create your VSC/TRAC lights. For this reason it could be the well known O2 sensors tripping her CEL, yet with only 1k miles ns wouldn"t think they"d be bad already(unless you acquired a dud). An extremely likely could be her gas cap wasn"t/isn"t screwed on all the way, which sets turn off a CEL. Inspect to make certain it"s on right. After ~ a couple of trips the CEL should go far by chin though. (funny story, my friend has a BMW and every time his mam puts gas in that she can"t seem to put the lid on correctly. Through the BMW"s, the CEL will only go far if you clean the code;they"ve been to the dealer 3 times simply for this straightforward mistake)I am hoping in your instance it"s something basic like the gas cap. Through a brand new vehicle, girlfriend shouldn"t be having actually these kinds of troubles. Good luck./Mike
