You are watching: Jeep grand cherokee humming noise front end

I"m having actually a important bizarre trouble with mine "12 SRT8... An incredibly loud hum/whine from the front end. Just happens after ~ I"ve to be driving much more than 20 minute or so... I deserve to drive to occupational and ago home all week (about 10 mins one way), and also I"ll never hear the noise. It can happen at any kind of speed, and also in any transmission mode. I"ve thrown the in neutral and also the noise still continues. The just thing that stops the humming is hitting the brakes (or comes to a stop). As soon as ns touch the brake pedal, the noise immediately goes away, till I let turn off the brakes again. I am totally stumped. Changed the diff liquid in situation that was the issue, yet the trouble persists (I"m just over 30,000 miles). Wheel bearings space good. Everyone else suffer something similar?

Will it avoid humming if you an extremely gently push on the brakes? In other words, no even enough to sluggish down, just to to speak you"ve engaged the brakes a small bit.I"m guessing stuck piston in a caliper.

No clue, man. I"m guessing maybe just from the heat expanding the steel over time. Can explain why it only happened when it to be "warmed up" ~ 20 mins of steering or so. The heat shield probably adjusted shape just enough to rub... Then when it cooled off it went earlier to no touching. Completely bizarre... But I"m relieved the wasn"t noþeles major. Evaluate from the hellacious noise ns was expecting the worst!
On my old WK1, in which method the bottom the the passenger rear dust shield obtained curled up about ½-1 inch. This shield had never struggle the ground and also I never identified how that happened.
